Friends and a Conference - Thursday, 22 May 2025 - Mars to Louisville

It has been a number of years since we have been to Louisville to visit our friends, Barbara and Charles. When it was announced that the National Genealogy Annual Conference was going to be held in Louisville, it seemed like the perfect time to visit friends and go to the  conference.

So we headed out on Thursday about 10 a.m. even though Earle had a horrendous cold. He had been checked out on Wednesday at the Urgent Care to make sure it wasn't flu or COVID because we certainly didn't want to bring along those visitors.

It was an interesting drive that took us along some non-interstate routes. It must have been a mess with either accidents or construction. We stopped to get gas after we got into Ohio and continued on at a good speed until we got to about 45 miles north of Cincinnati when we came to an abrupt halt. We sat in a virtual parking lot, only moving 3 miles in 55 minutes. It put our arrival time in Louisville at 6:30.

It was so good to see our friends. We settled in for a few moments and then decided it would be best to go out for dinner rather than trying to either fix something or get carryout. So we headed to Gustavo's Mexican Grill. It was a huge restaurant, crowded and a bit noisy. But the food was wonderful and not a chain restaurant for sure.

A much needed Margarita after the long drive

Delicious burrito

Earle had tacos.

It was nearly 10:00 when we got back and so watched a bit of TV and then headed up to bed.

Another tough loss to the Brewers tonight: 8-5.
