Our first trip of 2025 was to the beautiful campus of Wilson College for the Class of 1970's 55th Reunion. We left mid-morning and drove the uneventful 3 hour drive to Chambersburg. Decided to take Rt. 30 over the mountains, which was a mistake because we got behind a very slow truck and line of traffic. Learned the lesson about going further and getting off at Blue Mountain.
Arrived at the college a bit after 1 p.m. and checked in at the registration desk. Everyone was so welcoming and I received numerous congratulations on the Distinguished Alumna Award. We went out and looked at the brick in the walkway and then headed to the hotel.
Checked into our hotel, Springhill Suites where our Class had a block of rooms. We changed clothes and spent a bit of time relaxing. Our class had a hospitality room where a number of us met for some wine and snacks before heading back to the college for the Pines and Maples Society reception at President Wes Fugate's home. It is a lovely event with delicious hors d'oeuvres and wine. While on the porch enjoying time and refreshment with 4/5 of the Wild Wilson Women, a nasty thunderstorm blew in.
Unfortunately, the all college picnic was moved indoors to the dining room. The food was good as usual, with the outstanding Mexican street corn. Chatted for a while with the classmates who were there and then back to the hotel.
We like the Springhill Suites in Chambersburg because there is a patio with a lovely firepit. However, the area was being occupied by a men's golf group who had no intention of sharing. Gwen and I propositioned them that they could have the area Friday night and our class would have it Saturday. They agreed!
Back to the room to catch the Pirates game. I had brought an HDMI cord, but it wouldn't recognize my iPad, so we watched it on that screen since the hotel didn't carry SportsNet. Pirates were in Philly and lost to them 8-4. So sad to see them struggle so.
